But unless the franchise has drastically changed, then my assessment should be accurate. Combat & traveling are AC’s main gameplay elements, & its cutscenes are much longer & more frequent like a movie.Īdmittedly, I only played AC II. The enemies are all human no literal monsters. Bosses lack any real puzzle element & are simply quicker & stronger versions of normal foes. ![]() The acrobatics & platforming are environmental (or less obvious), impromptu, more combat-purposed, & largely arbitrary. Its gameplay is meandering & the environments sprawling. I really miss Prince of Persia, especially those hidden obstacle courses.ĪC, however, is Open World. I skipped Battles of PoP (but that’s a different genre). I’ve played the original 2D title, plus Sands of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones (GCN), The Forgotten Sands (very weak entry), & The Fallen King. PoP is a Platformer its core, but has elements of the 1st Tomb Raider (puzzles & adventure), Rygar (acrobatics, platforming, & combat), & Metroid (exploration, backtracking, & upgrades). The characters & plot are secondary & not as convoluted. Finally, both the 3D & 2D variants are light on cutscenes a more cinematic experience than long movie interrupting momentum. ![]() Combat is less prevalent, but many of the enemies are monsters. The bosses follow the classic video game philosophy & are usually puzzle-like. Also, it has environmental puzzles (blocks, levers, etc.), & blatant obstacles that necessitate acrobatics & platforming in order to advance (or acquire a new item or upgrade). PoP’s gameplay is way more focused w/ tighter environs. Prince of Persia & Assassin’s Creed are 2 very different games.
